Usually on Wednesdays I post about my cupcake adventures but I wanted to take a quick break and answer the most common questions I am asked about cupcakes! And if you have any additional questions, leave them in the comments and I’ll answer them!
How do you eat all of those cupcakes and not weigh 300 pounds?
Hands down, this is the question I am asked the most often and I actually think the answer is pretty simple. I average close to 1 cupcake a week but that’s really my only indulgence. Outside of that one cupcake I eat a pretty clean diet and I love running so I think that’s why I don’t weigh 300 pounds.
Do you have a favorite cupcake shop?
I’d have to really stop and think about this one! I think I’ve been to about 75 cupcake shops across the country so it’s difficult to pick a favorite. But…
Sweet and Saucy is where everything started so they’ll always hold a special place in my heart. I also love the concept behind Church of Cupcakes in Denver so they’re pretty high on my list. And Brown Betty Dessert Boutique in Philadelphia is just downright delicious!
And if you want to check out the other cupcake shops I’ve been visited, you can explore more of my Cupcake Adventures.
What is the cupcake trifecta?
In my opinion there are three things that make a cupcake perfect…
-The cake part is moist
-The frosting isn’t too sweet
-There is a balanced ratio of cake to frosting…too much or too little frosting just doesn’t do it for me!
How do you find new cupcake shops to try?
Lots of ways! I get lots of referrals from people, I’ll come across cupcake shops that others mention in their social media posts and sometimes if I am traveling I will simply google “cupcake shops in fill in the name of the city where I am traveling”
Will you come try our cupcakes?
I’d absolutely love to come and try your cupcakes! If your cupcake shop fits in with my upcoming travel plans I would be happy to come and check it out! You can get my contact information on my Contact page so we can get in touch!
Do you ever have cupcakes that you don’t like?
Rarely. But I’ll be honest, it happens. There has only been one cupcake shop I regret blogging about because the cupcakes weren’t really that good and I struggled with what to say. But I was committed, so I wrote the post anyways. And there have two or three times when I’ve had a cupcake and not blogged about it because I didn’t like it. But hey, 3 out of 75 isn’t bad!
What is your favorite flavor of cupcake?
I am a sucker for anything with salted caramel. And I also just love a traditional vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting. Oh, and cream cheese frosting…that’ll get me every time!
So I’d love to hear from you…where should I visit next? And what other cupcake questions do you have?
Love love love! Although, I cannot believe a frosting can be too sweet for you, there is no such thing in my world…..haha! As for places to try, Mollys Cupcakes in Chicago has to be my favorite!
Adding Molly’s Cupcakes to my list of places to go right now!
I’m a newer reader so this was a timely post! 75 cupcake shops is impressive!!
I’m glad you find it impressive because some people might consider it ridiculous 😉
Shelly @ Behind Blue Eyes
I agree with Tina, Molly’s Cupcakes is probably my #1…I also like Swirlz Cupcakes (http://www.swirlzcupcakes.com/) which you can buy their cupcakes from Whole Foods Market which is a double bonus!
If two people say the same place, it must be worth visiting! And I’ll have to check out Swirlz as well!
<3 Love this post!! And I LOVE CUPCAKES. Happy Wednesday!!!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves cupcakes!
Oh yum! I love cupcakes, I actually ate one today 😉
Newlyweds on a Budget
YOu should have like a cupcake rating system, like 2 sprinkles for a mediocre cupcake, and 5 sprinkles for OMG this is flipping amazing you must try it before you die, cupcake 🙂
Love the idea of a sprinkle rating system!
Came here through Sits Sharefest and absolutely love this post of your.
I’m a self proclaimed cupcake addict, although try to eat less of it…75 cupcakes stores is definitely IMPRESSIVE !!!
And yes, what better than a creamcheese frosting with lil salted caramel crumbs – Yum 🙂
Anything with cream cheese is a win in my book!
I am new to your site and totally intrigued! I heart cupcakes as well – my recently is Misha’s in South Florida. Let us know if you are ever down here and I’ll take you there myself!
I will definitely add Misha’s to my list and I’ll let you know if I get there! Thanks for coming by my blog!

I love cupcakes too esp salted caramel anything! I’m still waiting on my other baking trays to arrive from Australia to start baking cupcakes! But I don’t know how you stop at 1 a week!!
I remind myself that if I don’t stop I won’t be able to button my pants lol
I read this post while hungry. Not good. Must have cupcake.
I always approve of having cupcakes!

I agree with all of the above. The frosting/cake ratio is SO important and I hate super sweet frosting!
Holy moly, I LOVE this!!! I love me a good cupcake too and if you live by me, I’d love to hear your recommendations! Sweet and Saucy shop is one of my all time favorites. All of her things are so delicious! I know this isn’t really the same, but nothing bundt cakes is also super good! If you ever go to Santa Barbara, Crush Cakes is amazing! Oh and of course, sprinkles and sprinkles ice cream.
I LOVE Nothing Bundt Cakes (as much as I love cupcakes) and depending on where you’re at in SoCal I’d gladly give you recommendations! I think I might have actually been to Crush Cakes in SB but I’d need to look back through all of my visits!
I love cupcakes too! Not sure I have a favorite though I do like salted caramel! Delicious post! Cheers, Koko❀
I’m obsessed with Salted Caramel cupcakes! I recently had one in Phoenix that I can not wait to write about on here!!
