Laguna Coast Wilderness Park
I am a firm believer that fitness is not meant to only happen in the gym. If you want to live a fit and healthy life it truly has to be a lifestyle. So whether I’m at home in Southern California or traveling I like to find ways to be active outdoors…and going for a hike is always a win in my book!
Laguna Coast Wilderness Park is less than 30 minutes from where I live and one of the things I love most is that when you start hiking you feel like you are in a completely rural slice of the world. There are more than 40 miles of trails great for hiking, mountain biking, trail running, horse bike riding, and exploring nature.
If you are traveling to Southern California and looking for some hiking options, I’d highly recommend Laguna Coast Wildnerness Park. There are a wide variety of hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty so regardless of your fitness level, you can find a trail to hike. There is also a nature center on site if you’re interested in learning more about the local plant and animal population and the views from the trails are simply breathtaking!
It is my hope that this post inspires you to find new ways to be active right where you live and wherever you travel. What places near you are great for living a healthy, active lifestyle? (Because I’m always looking for new things to add to my bucket list!)

My daughter loves hiking. She has hiked the high peaks in the Adirondacks and some in CT. I think hiking feeds the soul as well as the body!

There are some great trails and views from Kennesaw Mountain which is not too far from me, and the kids love it!

We bought a 10 acre farm and we are working on making a nice winding trail around the property so I can walk every day. So far it’s only a 10 minute walk but it’s only half way around the property. It’s really a pretty walk around the old buildings, through the tall grass, and by the pond. Next the trail will be going through the woods 🙂

I have never been to California. Looks like a great hike! My ex mother in law is always traveling back and forth between here (Fl) and there.

Such a beautiful view. I miss having access to scenic hiking area. Here in FL we have the beaches but unless you are by water, it’s too hot to enjoy the outdoors in summer 🙁

That is definitely one thing I don’t miss about living on the East Coast…I love having great temps to do outdoor activities all year round!

I always forget about hiking. So easy to just go outside and start walking. We live near Lake Michigan and there are a ton of walking trails that are all very beautiful. As long as the weather is great, it definitely makes sense to get out and explore.

I love being able to hike near water…it’s probably why I live by the beach!
