My Kentucky Redneck Adventure
For close to a year now my friend’s husband has been wanting me to come and visit them in Kentucky to take me, the city girl, on a big Redneck Adventure. I honestly don’t think I realized what I was getting into when I embarked on this adventure, but I do have to admit that I had more fun than I was expecting. So what all did this redneck adventure include?
– My first time riding a horse
Given more opportunities to ride horses, I think I could really get into this as a hobby! There was also no way I wasn’t getting on the horse seeing as the rider before me was all of 4-years old…and I was not going to look scared to a 4-year old!
– My first time shooting a gun
My first attempt was with a 12-gauge shooting clay pigeons. There is no way to describe how far off the target I was that day! But in my defense I was so focused on holding the gun correctly in an effort to minimize the kick back that I basically ignored the moving target. But I tried it, and that’s what counts. Now the 22 was a different story. Since I didn’t really have to focus on how to hold the gun, I could focus on hitting the targets. And while I will admit that I had to go through a few clips to hit all my targets, I did it!

Not sure what that is? Here is Wikipedia’s explanation of frog gigging. But don’t say that I didn’t warn you that you might be bothered! Let’s just say that the inner-city teacher in me came out after I gigged the frog when I declared, “Yo, I gigged that frog!” And really, what’s not to love about tramping around a darkened pond at 11 o’clock at night looking for a frog to skewer to death only to be told to, “Freeze” while your guide pulls out their 22 and shoots a snake?!?

– My first time eating frog legs
See that frog right up there…yup, I ate his legs :/ And I have to admit, they were pretty tasty! Kind of cross between chicken and fish. And while I can’t say that I’ll be going frog gigging in the near future, I would agree to eat frog legs again.
– My first time eating a stoner roll
Really just a pizza roll known for being eaten by…well, I’m sure you get the idea!
By the end of the trip my friend remarked that she had learned two things about me over the course of the weekend…
1. I am willing to give almost anything a try.
2. I am more refined than she thought.
What can I say? I’m a city girl at heart!

Hmm it looks like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I
guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I too am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to everything.
Do you have any points for inexperienced blog writers?
I’d definitely appreciate it.
