Creating a Social Media Plan {day twenty-six}

Welcome to Day Twenty-Six of the Write 31 challenge!  If this is your first time stopping by, head over to Day One to get started from the beginning, and now on to Day Twenty-Six…

Yesterday we talked about the Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) you should be tracking and today we are going to set goals in those areas.

Take a minute to print out the KPI Printable and then use the notes you jotted down yesterday to fill out the intial data column.

And now let’s talk about setting goals with the Big 4 Social Media Platforms! I’m going to give you some tips and suggestions below along with asking some questions designed to help you set your goals but ultimately the goals you set are YOURS!

Facebook

*Remember that even really popular brands, products, businesses, and bloggers usually don’t have engagement above 30% so I wouldn’t suggest setting a goal of 53% engagement!

Is this a social media platform you want to really invest energy in during the next 30 days? If you do, then I would set higher goals for this platform than others. If this isn’t where you want to focus your energy, then don’t set your goals too high.

Pinterest

*If you haven’t really pinned much content to Pinterest already, don’t expect this to be a big driver of traffic right away. The great thing about Pinterest is that it will lead traffic to your blog down the road so if you don’t have many pins there right now you probably won’t see explosive growth in your first 30-days.

Twitter

*Remember that a great way to increase engagement on your tweets is to increase your engagement with others so if you set ambitious goals here, then start engaging with others frequently!

Instagram

*Quantity does not trump quality on this platform. If you don’t post regularly right now increasing to five pictures a day isn’t going to help engagement on your photos

After you set your goals record today’s date in the initial data row, count out 30-days on the calendar and write the date down for when you’ll need to do your 30-day assessment and then count out another 30 days for when you’ll do your next assessment. Checking in at 30 and 60 days allows you to follow trends and see what really is working and what areas you might need to adjust.

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to leave them in the comments below or email me at girlonthemoveblog01 {at} gmail {dot} com

I’d love to hear your goals below for any, or all, of your social media platforms!
