Creating a Social Media Plan {day thirty}

Welcome to Day Thirty of the Write 31 challenge…I can’t believe we’re so close to the end!  If this is your first time stopping by, head over to Day One to get started from the beginning, and now on to Day Thirty…

Throughout the series I’ve received emails, tweets, comments, and messages with various social media questions so I thought I would address some of those here. Social Media Q&A

1.Do you pay for shares on Facebook?

The short answer: No! The long answer: I’ve done a fair amount of research on this topic and I just don’t think it’s money well spent…for me. Things might be different for your type of business, brand, blog, product, but for me it wouldn’t be effective…so I spend my money other ways. And if my Facebook growth is slower, but genuine, then I’m okay with that!

2.Is it okay to share my blog post more than once?

Absolutely! On the day I publish a post I share it several times via Twitter (since the shelf life on Twitter is so short) and once on Facebook (since there is a longer shelf life)…and then I schedule the post to be shared again on social media in the coming weeks and months! In the last couple of weeks I’ve gained over 100 new Twitter followers so they never saw the post I shared a month ago…so I share it again!

3.Can you help me put my social media plan together!

Stay tuned for details on how I’d be happy to help you do this!

4.Where can I find content to share on my social media platforms?

The great thing is that there are lots of places to find content! When I sit down to schedule content the first two places I look are through my various Twitter lists and my BlogLovin feed.

5.How can I speed up my social media growth?

The answer to this question depends on what you are looking for on social media. If you only want big numbers of followers, then giveaways are a great way to gain new followers. But if you’re looking for new followers that want to interact with you, then giveaways are not the best option. My biggest tip is to focus on one platform at a time and really be intentional about putting together a plan and interacting with others.
