Stone Mountain Park

If you’ve been following this blog (or my social media accounts) then you know that I love traveling and fitness…and when I’m able to combine those two loves that makes me even happier! Going for a run in a new city is a great way to explore and I enjoy finding active adventures wherever I travel.

On our most recent road trip we stopped by Stone Mountain Park just outside of Atlanta, GA. If you’re ever in the Atlanta area I’d highly recommend a trip to the park!

The park offers hiking, fishing, golf, a ropes course, train ride, water play and so much more! And the views of downtown Atlanta are not to be missed!

The view from the top of Stone Mountain in Atlanta Georgia

When you get to the top of Stone Mountain this is the view you see…breathtaking!  And on a clear day (when we were there it was rainy and humid) you can see for miles!

Hiking

There are a variety of hiking trails available and you can hike to the top of Stone Mountain. When you get to the top of the mountain you have 360° of views of downtown Atlanta and the surrounding area in Georgia that are simply amazing. I would recommend taking the Summit Skyride down after you hike because it gives you a better view of the carving on the side of the mountain.

As a side note, if you’re not able to hike to the top of the mountain you also have the option of riding the Summit Skyride to the top so you don’t miss out on the panoramic views.

Ropes Course

The ropes course at Stone Mountain is four levels of adventure and most of the way it is choose your own adventure style so you can choose which path is more suited to your ability level. The ropes course is four levels high so if you’re not a fan of heights, this is not the activity for you!

Do you see my way at the top of the ropes course…like a monkey up in the tree?!?

If you’re in the Atlanta area I’d highly recommend checking out Stone Mountain Park and I can’t wait to go back and visit again!

What are your favorite things to do when you travel? Museums, historical sites, beach/pool?
