Utah and Colorado Road Trip
I absolutely love taking road trips! If the 15,000+ miles in road trips I’ve completed in the past year weren’t already enough evidence, I would point to the sheer number of road trips I’ve taken in my life (I would dare say it’s close to the triple digits!) There is just something so beautiful about seeing nature from the road instead of from an airplane. Having the ability to pull over to the side of the road when you want to see more and stick to your own schedule are just some of the reasons I love road trips. I’m also pretty sure my love of road trips comes straight from my parents! My dad has a collection of more than 30 Rand McNally road atlases including a vintage 1947 atlas and my mom is an expert on road trips with kids!
This summer I took a road trip through Utah and Colorado and I’ll get into more details in some upcoming posts (like the food and hiking I did!) I wanted to just take you on a visual tour through these two absolutely beautiful states. And if you have the opportunity I would highly recommend a trip through Utah and Colorado!
What are your thoughts on road trips? Do you have any great road trip memories? What is your dream road trip?

I love-love-love road trips. My dream road trip would be to just live on the road. Seriously. And off the Interstates as much as possible.

Me too! My current dream (just because it’s a little more manageable) would be to take like a 6-week road trip and just do so much exploring!

I went to CO for the first time this summer! I keep seeing pics of Utah and tinking it needs to be on our list next summer

Definitely put UT on your list of places to visit next summer!

Right?!? I always feel like so many amazing things can happen when you set off on a road trip!

I’ve driven across the country several times as far as Missouri taking different routes. Now mostly closer by. We love road trips it’s such a great experience. But, convenience is definitely flying. Our country is so beautiful. I’d love to explore it more.

Flying is definitely more convenient! I would love to take like a 6-week road trip across the country sometime!

Love to take road trips with the family. Though you certainly have me beat in miles this year. We took a road trip to Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone with the kiddos this year. Road trips make for amazing memories.

I have so many amazing road trip memories from our family road trips growing up!

Wonderful scenery! I love seeing new places, but I don’t like getting there. Sitting in a car for any amount of time is a torture for me. I would rather run along the car on the side of the road than sit inside.

It’s only torture for me if I’m in the backseat…then I just get car sick! But otherwise, I love road trips!

Aspen, CO is probably one of the prettiest places I have ever been to. I’ve driven through Utah quite a few times going from AZ to WA and while it’s a long drive, there are some stunning views!

I have never been to that part of the country, but damn does it look gorgeous!

Gorgeous pics! I went on a road trip through Utah and Colorado when I was 13 and I remember it being amazing – can’t wait to take my own kids (when they are a bit older and don’t lose the plot every time we drive for more than an hour in the car 🙂 )

I’m sure you all will have a fabulous time!

WE love to road trip through Colorado, especially at the beginning of winter. It is so pretty!

Sadly I have still never been to Utah or Colorado (or really any states in that region of the country — too many trips to California I guess!). I have heard how beautiful they are, both in the winter and summer.
I have been on a couple road trips. After graduation I went on a road trip to the South with about 11 other college friends; and then to upstate New York, Toronto, and Michigan for a friend’s wedding; and this summer to NJ, Philly, Baltimore, DC, and Virginia with Sam and Eve. It’s definitely fun to see the outdoors and stop whenever you feel like it, unlike when you’re flying.

I would like to do more New England road trips…I often regret not seeing even more when I was living on the east coast!

Okay so I am making a cross-country road trip from Tampa, FL to San Diego and was going to throw in some stops. Is there anywhere (preferably not too far North) I should try to see? Beautiful pictures!

Will you be mostly traveling along 10? If so, there are some great places in the New Orleans area and San Antonio area I’d highly recommend! I can also make a few other recommendations!

I love road trips! Last summer I drove from California to Vermont with my daughter – we had an amazing time. I have never driven this route that you just shared, but I have traveled a lot through both Utah and Colorado. I have a daughter in Aspen and one in Boulder. Plus we love skiing in Park City. Such beautiful places!
