Would You Rather Travel Edition
I am a huge fan of the game, “Would You Rather” so when I saw these Travel Editions on two of my favorite travel blogs I knew I wanted to play a round of my own! My inspiration comes from Shane from Sea Salt Secrets and Kaelene from Unlocking Kiki.
Just a reminder that when you play you don’t get to create your own third option…you have to choose one of the two options in the question! I’d love to hear your answers in the comments below and ask your friends and family for their answers during dinner tonight!
Have a $10,000 budget for a holiday and fly first class for $5,000 and stay in mediocre accommodation OR spend $1,000 on economy and stay in luxury accommodation?
Hands down my answer would be to fly economy and stay in luxury accommodations! As much as I love flying first class (and trust me, once you’ve done it it’s not easy to go back to coach!) the flight is only a small portion of your trip. You’ll spend way more time at your hotel than on the plane so I’d rather have luxury accommodations!
Stay in a palm hut along the seashore for seven days OR stay in a log cabin in the woods for one month?
Since I am fortunate enough to live by the ocean in a beach city filled with palm trees (I can see palm trees from my bedroom!) it almost seems silly to choose to stay along the seashore. So I’d choose to stay in a log cabin and find fun adventures to have in the woods…hiking, maybe a pond or waterfall to explore.
Stay with a local family–awesome cultural experience guaranteed–but the children are noisy, your room’s walls are thin and you can hear it all OR in a nice quiet hotel that is sterile and devoid of any local culture (eg, a Holiday Inn)?
I would absolutely choose to stay with a local family! When I was in high school I went on a trip to Spain and we spent half the time touring the country and half the time living with a local family. I got so much more out of my time with the family because I felt like I truly experienced Spain. I was able to get a glimpse into what life looks like on a daily basis for Spaniards as opposed to the tourist version I saw the first part of the trip. So even though I might not get a great night of sleep staying with a family, the experience would be worth it!
Would you rather spend the night in a luxury hotel or go camping in a tent?
I absolutely love doing things outdoors…hiking, ziplining, the beach, etc…but I do not like sleeping outdoors. So I would have to pick the night in a luxury hotel! I don’t know what it is about camping in a tent but it’s just not my thing!
Would you rather move every six months (including internationally) or live in the same place your entire life?
As much work as it sounds like to move every six months, I wouldn’t want to live in the same place my entire life so I’d pick the moving option. I was born and raised in California but my time living on the East Coast was incredible. I learned so much about myself and other people by living somewhere new and different. I just hope that when I have to move every six months I get to pick where I go!
Would you rather go to Hawaii in a cruise ship or in an airplane?
If my answer didn’t impact how much time I could spend in Hawaii I would pick the cruise ship. Even though you’ll spend your days at sea and the view won’t change too much I think there is something nice about being able to take time to relax before your actual vacation begins. The days at sea would be a great chance to unwind from work and “real” life before my time in Hawaii.
I’d love to hear your answers to some of the questions in the comments below!

I am with you, I think I would rather move every 6 months versus never moving 🙂
Deb- It's me, debcb!
I would rather fly economy and stay in an awesome hotel any day. And after moving a few years ago, I’m fine with never moving again.
Cristina @triathlonmami
Ha! Love this. I’d rather move around every 6 months, sleep in culturally diverse experience, but if I had 10k I’d spend in hotel versus airfare. I would also go to the mountains for a month (i live by the beach). We are heading out on a roadtrip, might have to play a round or two with the kiddos. Thanks!

This is so awesome!! It is inspiring me to do a Would You Rather: Christian Edition. I’m going to get to work on it. Thanks for your great inspiring blog!

Fun game! I’ve never flown first class so I don’t know what I’m missing, and it would be nice to have a nice place to sleep. Hands down, stay with a family (we’re actually hoping to do Airbnb when we’re in Istanbul later this summer). Definitely the beach — I love the water. Luxury hotel over camping — I love being outside, but I’m not outdoorsy.

I love the outdoors too. LOVE! Hiking, exploring etc…BUT I don’t like tenting it. I choose the luxury hotel!

I would love to go to Hawaii. On a plane. I’m not sure I could do a cruise but I may try one day!
Michelle
I hate moving, I want to stay just where I love forever! But I do like traveling for vacations though 🙂 fun post!
Pam @ Hodge Podge Moments
I saw this over on Shane’s blog and loved it. Now that I’m seeing it again, I might just have to add it to the rotation. Maybe even a He Said, She Said feature on The Coastie Couple!
Debra
I so agree about the first question! It is just a small portion of your trip!

So fun to read this travel edition as I too love to travel!
Well, I guess we all have our own preferences when it comes to where to go and what to do with our time and money. 🙂

I’ve got the urge to move right now! I’d move all the time if my husband would let me! LOL I’d travel economy to stay in luxury with out a doubt. I’d stay in a cabin because I’ve always wanted to do that! Now I want to travel…somewhere…anywhere! 🙂
Jaclyn
Haha how fun!! I would definitely fly economy! I’m kind of known for my ability to be comfortable anywhere and to be able to sleep anywhere haha!
Denea Duran
I am totally with you, I love hiking and going on nature walks but will not sleep outside! It always makes me think of The Blair Witch Project LOL!
Samantha Angell
Great answers! Believe it or not, and this is coming from someone who has moved internationally 4 times in the past 23 months and from one state to another once in that same time period… eventually you get moving down to a science! Even now, I’m planning on only being in des Moines for another few months before moving on. I’ve come to love the adventure that comes with it!
Shane
Thanks so much for playing along 🙂 I would much rather move like crazy than stay in one place!
Karissa
This was a fun post. For the first one I’d rather fly economy and stay on luxury.
