Creating a Social Media Plan {day twenty-seven}
Welcome to Day Twenty-Seven of the Write 31 challenge! If this is your first time stopping by, head over to Day One to get started from the beginning, and now on to Day Twenty-Seven…
Sometimes when I am browsing different social media sites I am amazed at what people will say and do online…and not in a good way! So as we get ready to wrap up this series on social media I thought I would share a few general social media tips with y’all. And the great thing is that we all learned these way back in preschool, so they should be easy to remember!
- Play nice with others…preschool is all about learning to play with others instead of just sitting all by yourself and the same is true for social media…it’s all about engaging with others! Don’t just post questions, respond to questions from others. Don’t just post about your own life, engage with others about their life.
- Use kind words…I understand that it’s really easy to complain about Company X on Twitter because their service is terrible, but stop and think about how that reflects on you. Have a problem with their service? Feel free to reach out via social media and ask how to get in touch with someone from customer service, but don’t blast them on social media…it doesn’t make you look good!
- Share with others…social media is about sharing with others so find content that is relevant to your followers and start sharing! Social media should not just be a place where you promote your own brand, product, business or blog, but where you can share content from others. Out of the big 4 social media platforms, you want to be sharing other people’s content on Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter. The only place where you don’t need to share is on Instagram…but then you should comment on other’s photos!
- Make new friends…use hashtags to explore social media and find people with common interests, don’t be afraid to reach out to others and engage with them. I’ve met some great people in real life because we first connected via social media!
If you have any questions about this, please feel free to leave them in the comments below or email me at girlonthemoveblog01 {at} gmail {dot} com

So true Julie! When I started blogging, I was overwhelmed by the comaraderie I experienced. But we forget that it is important to be nice too. {SIGH}

Great post! Just too bad FB won’t let others see the great stuff you share. Google+ is a good place too.

These really sound like basics, but honestly, they’re rules we all need to remember! There are real people behind computer screens, it’s important to not forget!

Creative spin on these tips. It reminds me of that book by Robert Fulgrum – Everything I needed to know I learned in Kindergarten. And I agree with all your tips!

Love these tips Julie. So funny how we forget what we learned at such an early age. Your 31 days series was amazing. My other etiquette tip would be respond to emails which I’m realizing I totally forgot to do when you were in town. I am so sorry! I hope you had a wonderful visit!

Emails can pile up so easily but it’s a good reminder to try and respond to them…but I totally understand that it’s not easily easy!
